Community Service Activities for the UMA Agribusiness Masters Study Program for the 2020/2021 academic year were held on January 24, 2021. This community service activity was carried out at the Simalungun Star Sustainable Palm Oil Planters Association, Pematang Silampuyang Village, Siantar District, Simalungun Regency. The event was immediately attended by the Director of the Postgraduate Program at the University of Medan Area, Prof. Dr. Ir. Retna Astuti Kuswardani, MS, Head of the UMA Agribusiness Masters Study Program, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yusniar Lubis, MMA, lecturers, and UMA Agribusiness Masters Students.
In carrying out education and teaching other than on-campus, Medan Area University also carries out education outside the campus, one of which is in this activity. Community service is the activity of student visits to the field carried out by students majoring in agribusiness. This activity is mandatory for students. This activity aims to broaden people's insights about Best Management Practice, RSPO & Horticulture Certification. This activity is carried out by students of the Agribusiness study program under the supervision of lecturers.
After that, the Agribusiness Masters Study Program signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Bintang Simalungun Sustainable Oil Palm Growers Association (PPKSBBS) which agreed and agreed that community service was carried out to improve and develop knowledge of the Bintang Simalungun Sustainable Palm Oil Growers Association (PPKS BBS).
The scope of this Cooperation Agreement is coaching, knowledge development, and assistance to the community in efforts to develop plantation business activities, develop development policies to support the Simalungan Bintang Sustainable Oil Palm Planters Association (PPKS BBS) including the implementation of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi within the Medan Area University.
