In order to create development towards a green campus concept that is environmentally friendly in Higher Education (PT) Universitas Indonesia and Telkom University held a "UI Green Metric Sustainability Officer Workshop" which was held on March 13-14 2019.
The event with the theme "Raising The Participation of Higher Education in Nurturing The Environment Through Sustainability Office" aims to raise awareness about the need for a "Sustainability Office / Officer" in Higher Education by providing skills and knowledge training to "Sustainability Officers" and supporting Universities to become campuses. the "Sustainable".
The activity was attended by the Rector of the University of Medan Area Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng, M.Sc and Dean of Biology, Dr. Mufti Sudibyo, M.Si and from other universities who attended the UI Green Metric Sustainability Officer Workshop.
The event which lasted for two days presented speakers namely Prof. Adiwijaya (President of Telkom University) Prof. Riri Fitri Sari (Chairperson of UI GreenMetric - University of Indonesia), Prof. Ahmad Zaharin Aris (Chair for the UPM working committee on Sustainable Green Campus Universiti Putra Malaysia), and Dr. Sigid Suseno (Vice-Rector IV UNPAD), Director of the Secretariat of the University of Telkom University as well as chairman of the event committee Dr. Abdurahman Baizal explained, universities need to raise awareness with all of their academic communities. Universities also need to carry out activities that are relevant, consistent, in line with the concept of sustainability.
UI Green Metric is an annual publication event for ranking universities in the world related to Sustainability. To date, more than 700 universities from more than 30 countries around the world have participated in the UI Green Metric. The criteria used for the university assessment do not give appreciation for the efforts that have been made to reduce carbon and help reduce global warming. The criteria for calculating the UI GreenMetric values ??are the arrangement of Land and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education.
