The Indonesian National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) together with Medan Area University recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) accompanied by a seminar with the theme, "Encouraging Universities to Take an Active Role in Consumer Protection", Thursday (07/04/2019). The signing was carried out by Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M. Eng., M.Sc as Chancellor of Medan Area University with Rolas B. Sitinjak, SH, MH, IPC, CLA as Deputy Chairman of the Republic of Indonesia BPKN.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also witnessed by the Vice Chancellor for Collaboration Dr. Ir. Zulheri Noer, MP, Dean of the UMA Faculty of Law Dr. Rizkan Zulyadi, SH., MH, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law Student Affairs Ridho Mubarak, S.H M.H, was also witnessed by UMA Faculty of Law Lecturers and Students.
This Memorandum of Understanding aims as a foundation for cooperation in implementing and accelerating the development process and educating the nation. The scope of this Memorandum of Understanding includes:
1. Development and Empowerment of quality human resources.
2. Seminars and public lectures to improve academic quality and the development of knowledge, especially on Consumer Protection.
3. Research and Legal Education in the context of carrying out community service.
4. Establishment of Non-Governmental Consumer Protection Institutions (LPKSM) from Higher Education
"The National Consumer Protection Agency is the only state body that protects consumers, and we have stood for more than 19 years." explained the Deputy Chairman of the BPKN when giving a speech at the signing of the MoU at Medan Area University. The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to improve the relationship of institutional cooperation in the framework of Research, Education, Literacy and Community Service, especially in the field of Consumer Protection and in an effort to educate the nation's life.
