University of Medan Area (UMA) signed a memorandum of understanding on the collaboration of the Scholarship & Library MoU as well as the inauguration of BI Corner on campus 2 of Medan Area University, Thursday 13 September 2019 Jalan Sei Serayu Number 70 A / Jalan Setia Budi Number 79 B, Medan.
The MoU collaboration document was signed by the Head of the Office (Kakan) of BI Representative of North Sumatra Wiwiek Sisto Widayat and UMA Rector Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan M.Eng M.Sc, in the hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UMA.
The signing was witnessed by the Academic Vice Chancellor (WR) Dr. Ir. Siti Mardiana M.Sc, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Dr. Utary Maharany Barus S.H M.Hum, Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs Muazzul S.H M.Hum, Head of UMA Ina Budiani Library ST. MT., And the deans in the UMA environment and hundreds of FEB UMA students.
In the same place, the Head of the BI Representative Office of North Sumatra Wiwiek Sisto Widayat and the Chancellor of the Panca Budi Development University (Unpab) represented by Rector III Samrin SE MM, also signed an MoU in the scholarship program and library.
Head of BI Representative of North Sumatra Wiwiek Sisto Widayat in his speech said, BI's cooperation with UMA and Unpab in the scholarship program was something new. Because previously, BI only provided scholarship programs for state universities (PTN). BI has started cooperation with state universities since 2010/2011 in the undergraduate scholarship program. Whereas the collaboration with private universities (PTS) will only start in 2019. In North Sumatra, UMA and Unpab we first established cooperation in the scholarship program. Previously, BI had cooperated with PTN tigers, namely USU, Unimed and North Sumatra UIN, "Wiwiek said.
Bank Indonesia (BI) cooperates with PTS because the central bank wants to help the nation's children who are potential in PTS. However, to get a BI scholarship, said Wiwiek, it was not enough for the chancellor's recommendation, but he had to pass a selection in the form of an interview to ensure that the scholarship recipient was truly eligible.
In addition, Wiwik invited students to use the BI Corner which was built in the UEB FEB Library. BI Corner, he said, in addition to a place to read also can be a place of discussion between students to work on college assignments. Throughout Indonesia, BI already has 600 BI Corner. In North Sumatra there are already 16 BI Corner. Please take advantage of this facility, "said Wiwik.
Meanwhile, UMA Rector Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan M.Eng, M.Sc in his speech said that there are no advanced universities without cooperation with other institutions. Therefore, cooperation with BI North Sumatra will encourage the progress of the UMA. UMA currently has 20 study programs and four of them have been accredited A. This collaboration with BI will increase the accreditation of UMA study programs and institutions, "said Prof Dadan. BI Scholarships will also add to the existing scholarship programs at UMA so far. Likewise collaboration in the library, will further increase the weight of the UMA Library that has been hastily crossed with A.
