Students of the Faculty of Law, University of Medan Area again made achievements in the national legal debate competition and the theme raised in this activity was "Legal Politics Forming the Law on Customary Law Communities in Indonesia". The UMA FH student won 4th place in the 2019 Riau Law Fair National Debate Competition and won the Best Speaker Cup on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the PKM UNRI Gobah Building in Riau.
Riau Law Fair is one of the activities of BEM UNRI which involves the Office of Potential Development of Student Resources engaged in academics, a forum provided by BEM UNRI as a patron of movements from students throughout Indonesia who have the potential or want to develop their abilities in the academic field.
The debate competition was attended by state and private universities including 13 universities in Indonesia, namely Gajah Mada University, Jember University, UIN SUSKA Riau University, Andalas University, Islamic University of Indonesia, Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta, Sebelas Maret University , Medan Area University, North Sumatra University, Semarang State University, Maranatha Christian University Bandung, UPN Veterans Jakarta, Muhammadiyah University Malang.
