University of Medan Area held Campus Life Intro to Student Activities (PKKMB) 2018, on Thursday (5/9) to Saturday (8/9) on campus I UMA Jalan Kolam Medan Estate Jl. Pond No.1 Medan Estate.
This time the motto of the 2019 PKKMB is the GREAT (Clean, Clean and Healthy) Moto introduced by the Rector of the University of Medan Area (UMA) Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan M.Eng M.Sc in front of 3,000 new UMA students who attended the Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMB). On that occasion, Prof. Dadan also launched a smoke-free UMA campus.
"UMA new students must be great. Namely saving costs by completing college on time. Students must also be clear of mind and body, without being contaminated with negative things such as drugs, so that a healthy campus will be realized, "the chancellor said in his remarks at the opening of the PKKMB.
The opening of PKKMB UMA was marked by cutting the rice cone by the Chairman of the Haji Agus Salim Education Foundation (YPHAS) Drs. H.M. Erwin Siregar MBA, then returned to the representatives of new students. Present at the event were the Vice Chancellors of the Postgraduate Director, the Dean, the Chair of the Study Program, the Chair of the Institute within the UMA and the Management of the UMA Islamic Center.
The Chancellor also said, the vision of UMA, namely innovative, personal and independent must be understood and implemented by the entire academic community including new students in the 2019/2020 academic year. With that vision, he said, achievement must be a fixed price.
"UMA students must excel from the internal environment (campus), local (North Sumatra), to national and international. And your older siblings or senior students have shown that achievement, "said Prof. Dadan, adding that the foundation strongly supports all funding for outstanding students in the national and international arena.
YPHAS Chairperson Drs. H. M. Erwin Siregar MBA in his remarks appreciated the PKKMB committee and new students who were so cohesive for the success of the event which took place from 5-7 September 2019.
"The initial capital cohesiveness builds achievements," said Mr. Erwin while introducing himself and explaining the tasks of the foundation he was leading, including completing the facilities and infrastructure needed in conducting quality academics.
Chairman of the PKKMB Committee Armansyah Matondang S.Sos M.Si accompanied by the Head of the Student Administration Bureau (BAK) Sri Irawati S.Sos MAP, and the Head of Public Relations Division UMA Ir. Asmah Indrawati MP said, PKKMB was referring to the Kemenristekdikti guidelines, which put more emphasis on the introduction of the campus, the formation of character education, anti-drugs, understanding related to the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0.
"As a typical UMA at this event, we emphasize that new students become innovative, personal and independent students who are strong in creating entrepreneurship," said the Vice Dean for Student Affairs at FISIP UMA. In addition, he said there were lectures on national love and defending the country and preventing radicalism to maintain the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia.
The guests present from the Bank Mandiri delegation gave their presentation on how to pay tuition fees through the Bank Mandiri Virtual Account, then Bank Mandiri gave a gift to New Students of the University of Medan Area and ended with a group photo. The guests in attendance were delegates from the North Sumatra Kodam and PT. Indonesian Railways.
