The big family of the University of Medan Area (UMA) together with the community around the campus performed the Eid al-Adha prayer 1440 H / 2019, Sunday (11/8) at the At-Taqwa Mosque, Campus I, UMA, Jalan Kolam Medan Estate. After the Eid al-Adha prayer, which was lead by M. Nazri S.Pd.I, continued with the slaughtering of 27 sacrificial animals.
Also present was the Chairman of the Hajj Agus Salim Education Foundation (YPHAS) Drs. H. M. Erwin Siregar MBA, Secretary of the Foundation Dr. Akbar Siregar M.Si, Chancellor of UMA Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan M.Eng M.Sc, Chair of the UMA Islamic Center (PI) H Ismet Junus, deputy chancellors (WR), deans, lecturers and employees in the UMA environment.
UMA Chancellor Prof. Dadan Ramdan, accompanied by Head of Public Relations of UMA Ir Asmah Indrawati MP, revealed that the slaughtering of sacrificial animals as a form of increasing social awareness, through this activity, we hope that UMA family relations will be closer. With a sense of kinship that will increase the sense of belonging to the UMA, "said the chancellor.
According to the theme of Eid al-Adha this year at UMA, namely "Enhancing the Spirit of Sacrifice Towards Individual and Social Devotion", according to the rector of sacrifice also as a form of caring for the community. He stated, UMA routinely makes programs that bring these universities closer to the community, such as helping orphans. And every year UMA invites people to have breakfast together after the Eid al-Adha prayer.
While Ustad Dr. Zainun MA in the Eid al-Adhanya sermon said, the spirit of sacrifice needs to be strengthened and should become self-character, life is a struggle and that struggle requires sacrifice. Islamic values ??through sacrifice directly forge characters who are willing to sacrifice, "he said.
According to Ustad Dr. Zainun, the spirit of sacrifice must continue to surge in humans. He gave an example, to educate the nation's children, all academicians and employees must struggle and sacrifice in their service to realize the vision and mission of the university that excels academically, science and technology in producing innovative, personal and independent graduates. Be assured that work based on sincerity and a spirit of sacrifice will be rewarded by Allah with multiple rewards, "he said.
While the Chairman of the Islamic Center UMA H. Ismet Junus was accompanied by elements of the board of governor Fauzi Iskandar MA. explained, the slaughter of sacrificial animals this year as many as 27 animals consisting of 14 head of cattle and 13 goats which were distributed to the Muslims, staff and lecturers and the community around the campus.
